Personalized Programming

AKA, the Serenity-6 model

No two people are identical. When it comes to recovery, it is crucial that all measures put into place take into consideration the unique characteristics and background of the individual.

As addiction is a multi-faceted issue, Serenity integrates six distinct approaches when considering the needs of the patient. This comprehensive model aims to benefit our members by creating the most optimal environment and treatment plan for their success.

A holistic approach such as our's is essential for effective addiction recovery and its confounding mental and physical health conditions.

1. Medical Assessment

Due to the dangers of withdrawal symptoms that may pose hazards to the well-being of the new member, a medical assessment is typically advised.

Purpose:

Medical evaluations allow our clinical team to ensure the patients' safety during their stay and create a program best fit for the individual. If it is determined that there may be even the slightest chance of a withdrawal emergency, a medical assessment will be required. A full assessment and referral are not necessary for admittance, however, during the pre-intake consultation period, a counsellor will discuss with the new member and his or her family to determine the best course of action.

Our team will happily guide you through the proper procedures with our partnered physician or the member's personal family doctor prior to admittance into their program.

During the residential program, members are guaranteed:

  • access to physician whenever necessary (*NO QUESTIONS ASKED POLICY*)

  • unrestricted visits to in-house, registered nurse

  • prescription medication administered daily by registered nurse

  • over-the counter medication provided as necessary

2. Counselling

During their stay, members are required to meet with their designated counsellor 2x/week. This is a completely closed-door, one-on-one meeting. During their stay, the counsellor and patient will get to know each other and work through therapeutic exercises in a private setting, a crucial element in the recovery process.

Purpose:

The counsellor-inpatient relationship serves a very special purpose, unrelated to what members receive in group therapy. At Serenity, the counsellor is a confidante whose role is to monitor the mental and physical well-being of the member in recovery. More importantly, the meetings are times that members are able to openly discuss their mental state and reflect on their progress in recovery with their counsellor.

Although our counsellors are experienced and have seen a multitude of differing cases, no two patients are ever considered the same and patients' needs are catered to individually.

Our intimate, 6-persons program allows our counsellors to give the necessary attention to all members such that they truly feel looked after. Ultimately, the goal is to serve all of the needs of the recovering individual during their stay and further.

3. Therapy

In addition to personal counselling, members of Serenity will receive two types of therapy: group and individual.

Purpose:

Addiction is largely rooted in deeper, personal struggles be it trauma, suppressed emotions or victimhood to misinformation and environmental conditions. There is no treating addiction without targeting the underlying factors that initially led to substance abuse.

Member's will receive a combination of group and individual therapy sessions, where they will learn through means of:

  • cognitive behavioural therapy

  • trauma informed therapy

  • mindfulness

  • cross-addiction therapy

  • relapse prevention group

  • and many more! anything that benefits the individual!

4. Nutrition

Upon admittance to the program, our team will devise a meal plan taking into account the preferences of the new member.

Purpose:

It is not uncommon that individuals with addiction-like behaviour typically exhibit:

  • malnourishment symptoms

  • metabolic inefficiency

  • hormonal imbalances

  • lack of energy, yet with no appetite

Our experienced chef and coaches will work at the individual's pace to gradually rebuild them up to a point of maintaining proper diet and, ultimately, internal health.

Serenity is a proud advocate of using organic food sources. Our program partners with multiple local distributors and are exclusively supplied by organic meat, dairy and fruit farmers.

5. Fitness

Serenity staffs a minimum of 3 internally trained instructors in various physical activities. Members are required to partake in an exercise regime guided by a trainer. Additionally, members can choose from various activities such as:

  • Yoga

  • Cycling

  • Boxing

  • Swimming

  • and much more!

Purpose:

With the guidance of a trainer, active participation in physical exercise is required as it will increase strength, promote healing, and improve mental health. Rigorous exercise is not expected.

Importantly, the guided training is necessary in order to improve metabolic functions, muscle tone and shakiness, balance and cognitive alertness in recovering persons, many of which exhibit diminished physical health.

Our empathic trainers are hand-picked - having contagiously strong energy and combined with a mindset geared towards the growth of the client, we instill a sense of self-confidence and internally-driven motivation to improve.

6. Personal Development

Last, but not least, our establishment doubles as a place of learning. Individuals will work with counsellors and coaches to outline a set of objectives that they will be required to work towards during their treatment program. The selected objective will be simple and achievable so as not to be overwhelming.

Purpose:

This component of recovery gives the members control of how their time will be spent outside of group sessions and meetings. It has been shown that instilling a sense of growth, whatever it may be, positively reinforces self-confidence in one's abilities to improve.

The slow process of rehabilitation can become very discouraging, particularly when progress is not clearly visible. That is why other tasks and smaller achievements are an important factor in positively influencing change and consistency.

Some of our past members have done the following:

  • participated in educational seminars

  • got really fit

  • baked a cake...

We consider ourselves a type of liaison service - to bring our patient members to their desired self. That is why we are happy to seek and provide the necessary support and resources that members may require to fulfill their personal goals, all of which are included in the membership price.

*NOTE: Although our Serenity-6 model heavily relies on the cooperation of multiple staff members in order to create the most optimal environment and program for our member, we at Serenity guarantee to uphold ethical practices of the highest standard. Accordingly, all confidentiality and qualification considerations are strictly adhered to, and absolutely no information will be shared between unqualified staff. Likewise, all recovery program-related arrangements will be disclosed to the member and only implemented with their consent.
